Eiling Infant School

Eiling Infant School commissioned an interactive surfacing to go in their new play area. After our design was approved the rubber team set to work work making the vision a reality. Rhyno Wetpour is made from EPDM granules and bound together with polyurethane resin, led onto three successive layers.

The inital layer is a purpose-built subbase composed of stone bound together by a compactor. Then a weed suppressant membrane is placed over the top to mitigate the risk of subsistence and vegetation growth. The wetpour itself is broken down into a further two layers: a base layer of recycled vehicle tyres designed to absorb impact and a wearing course of finer granules to protect from the weather and the heavy foot traffic play areas receive.

By using a range of colours and designs, the safety surfacing becomes an interactive part of the children's play experience.
